Supporting Kedish House
How Can You Help?
Support survivors. Strengthen your community. Here’s how you can make a real difference.
5 Things you can do to help a domestic violence victim
Become informed
Learn more about domestic violence by contacting the crisis intervention center in your community and guide the victim to these services.
Lend a sympathetic ear
Offer support and be willing to listen and believe what someone is telling you.
Remind them the violence is not their fault
The abuser is the one responsible for their own behavior.
Help them develop a safety plan
Encourage the victim to develop a plan to protect themselves, and their children, if their partner becomes abusive again. Become a part of the victim’s safety plan.
Know when to intervene
Domestic violence is a crime, and if you know that it is occurring, call the police immediately.
Donate in the way that works for you
Every dollar supports local survivors with shelter, advocacy, and resources — and helps us prevent abuse through education and outreach.
Consider making a memorial or honorarium to Kedish House or simply a contribution to our mission, we accept checks, Paypal, Venmo & Thrivent Choice Dollars.
Provide everyday essentials
Our shelter and clients often need basic items that make a big difference. If you’d like to donate goods, here’s what we currently need most.
Pantry & Personal Care
We encourage our donors to donate non-perishable items such as;
-
Canned soups, pasta, cereal, snacks
-
Shampoo, conditioner, body wash
-
Toothpaste, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products
-
Paper towels, toilet paper, laundry soap
-
Diapers (all sizes), wipes
School Supplies
Each fall, we help families gather the long list of school supplies and clothing their children need, including that essential second pair of tennis shoes needed by each child.
You can support this effort anytime by donating supplies or giving specifically toward school-related needs. Just mark your gift “school supplies” to make a direct impact.
