October was a wonderful month filled with lots of outreach activities with area youth. Kristi collaborated with public health districts within the five county service area to meet with student athletes and discuss healthy relationships, warning signs of domestic violence and address the red flags they encounter. The kids chose an empowering phrase and painted the canvas to keep, give to a friend or send back to Kedish House for victims to choose from. Stop in the office to see the beautiful pieces on display! The goal is to work with each of the thirteen school districts in the service area over the school year. Events were held with area volleyball teams from Ellendale, Edgeley Kulm Montpelier, LaMoure and Sargent County (Forman, Milnor, Gwinner). If you have a group of kids that would like an opportunity to learn about building healthy relationships with Kristi, be sure to reach out to get scheduled!
The Ellendale Cardinals took on the Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier Rebels in a showdown on October 22nd. The volleyballs and popper balls displayed were tossed out to fans to raise awareness. A Pie in the Face competition between the opposing Farmers Union Agents was an exciting fundraiser with lots of laughs! A moment of silence to honor our survivors lit up the gym with purple glow sticks and enormous support from fans.
The Sargent County Bulldogs hosted the Northern Cass volleyball team on October 24th for their Powerful in Purple event. A fun serving game raised funds for Kedish House and their T shirts were sponsored by their local booster club. The Abuse Resource Network and Sargent County Health joined us to make this event a great deal of fun! We even forgot to take more photos! We plan to continue these events each October.
If you are interested in outreach opportunities to raise awareness and build support for survivors, reach out to the office for more information.
